Scannamugliera “Jazzo Ognissanti” – Historic Nature Trail
From the slopes of Monte Sant’Angelo is a historical naturalistic path, “Scannamugliera”. It’s an old muletrack, often punctuated by a series of steps cut into the rock, the “Holy Staircase”, that conduct to the Shrine of St. Michael the Archangel. A sacred tour of the most fascinated, a rocky path that still shows signs of ancient human activities, as evidenced by the graves marked with the seal of the Holy Christ. Along the way, carved into the rock of the right ridge of “Scannamugliera Valley”, you can visit the charming church of All Saints, with its frescoes inspired by the Byzantine iconographic models: a wonderful example of pictorial apulian art.
