Orchids

Between March and May, when spring peeping through the valleys of the area of Monte Sant’Angelo, nature gives a plot of colors and scents of precious flowers: wild orchids of Gargano. More than 80 varieties of orchids, the highest concentration of species in Europe, are an incredible abundance of natural flora of the promontory. A palette of colors from the brightest to the most clear,and the bizarre shapes often similar to insects,make wild orchids a unique flower. Every year many fans and visitors follow the paths of orchids, to discover their extraordinary nature. In the territory of Monte Sant’Angelo there are almost all varieties of orchids. You can admire especially in sparse pastures, in Umbra Forest and Quarter Wood, near Pulsano.
